Builder Carl Haberzettl developed a project of a block of flats in today’s Svobody street for Magdalena and Josef Muck in 1874. The indistinctive two-floor building was finished in the next year. A shop and one room probably intended as a restaurant were located on the ground floor, with a kitchen in the back wing and a passageway leading into the yard on the right. The builder put four rooms with a kitchen onto each floor. In 1879 the house was purchased by their neighbour Michael Brusch who had the redundant passageway built-over and created another small shop and a room there. Ernst Brusch operated his bakery in the yard one-floor building from 1875 and it was partially rebuilt in 1907 and 1939. The owner became dissatisfied with the original simple and undecorated facade so in 1911 the Cheb building company Georg Kreuzer & Josef Leistner designed and carried out a new facade. The result which we can see today was lagging behind the current architectural trends significantly so the facade has remained an evidence of a mere routine and schematic building production.
