The house originally served as the residence of the Juncker family with the family coat of arms in the forefront. A memorial plaque with a relief of King George of Poděbrady commemorates the king’s stays in Cheb between the years 1459 and 1461. During his first visit to Cheb in 1459, however, the king dwelled at a different house of the Juncker family, which had stood on the site of the present-day post office at the lower end of the square. The house, in the possession of the family since 1396, formed a complex along with two adjoining houses interconnected by a corridor and stairs. Following a devastating fire in 1604, which destroyed the family chapel, as well as artistically valuable inlayed ceilings, the houses were separated from the inside and the last original interior ceilings were removed after the year 1715. In addition to King George of Poděbrady, Duke Jiri Brankovic of Serbia was interned at the house between the years 1703 and 1711, and the Queen of Poland spent several weeks at the house while taking the local mineral waters in 1716.
