Loimann House
Accessible to the public only during operating hours of the businesses residing here.
The house bears the name of an important family of the Loimanns who were carters and merchants from Austen, Holland, and settled in the area of Cheb in the 1700s. Abraham Loimann, then transcribed as Lobinat, married in Cheb in 1704 and he became a town citizen. In 1727, he purchased house No. 513 in the town square, which became the main residence of his large family. His son, Josef Johann, is already mentioned as a respectable senator and merchant in 1755. Another descendant of the Loimann family, Anton Josef (1755-1837), was not only a reputable merchant, but also a significant official of the town administration as a lawyer and alderman. He earned his place in the history of the district of Cheb as the co-founder of Františkovy Lázně (Franzensbad) and the builder of the Tři Lilie (Three Lilies) bath house. Following his deceased in 1837, the wholesale firm along with the house in Cheb were taken over by his oldest son, Josef Andreas Loimann.
