Builder Adam Haberzettl from Cheb prepared a project of a block of rental flats in 1868 for Caspar Hofmann, a municipal hatter, who purchased all construction sites on the corner of today’s Svobody and Májová streets shortly before. Adam Haberzettl designed a corner house; we do not know its precise look. The building which was inspected in 1874 for brewmaster Adam Muck this time may have been modified in a number of ways. It is certain though that the ground-plan was preserved. It was a two floor building with space for seven shops and five rooms on the ground floor, and thirteen rooms on each of the upper floors. In 1885 the house comes into the possession of the underage daughter of builder Carl Haberzettl, Adele, since his family was related to the Mucks. As captured on the postcard from the 1890s, surprisingly the house had an extra floor high side avant-corps which protruded above the building itself. An extensive reconstruction of the building took place in 1901 when Carl Haberzettl had the house raised by one floor. The building also received a new more decorative facade patterned on the late Italian Renaissance. Hatter Therese Sandner ran her shop in the house for many years, as well as dental technician Ernst Vörner, and later Irma Lukesch. The prominent Cheb pastry-cook and soda water manufacturer Franz Reinl started his business here as well. A shoe repair shop, a photo shop, a pharmacy and a representative glass and porcelain store were located on the ground floor during the Socialist era.
