Heinrich Bloch’s House
Accessible to the public only during operating hours of the businesses residing here.
The construction office inspected the house of Heinrich Bloch, a spirits and liquors company owner, in November 1873. The project for this globe-trotter was developed by builder Johann Siegl who proposed a very dull and featureless building with side avant-corps. After the death of Heinrich Bloch in 1901, his wife Dorothea ran the business here, along with a spirits bar. Max and Kamilla Bloch obtained the house two years later but they got into a financial crisis and the house ended up in an auction. In January 1907 it was purchased by Wilhelm Herrmann, the wholesale dealer with colonial goods and flour and a sauerkraut manufacture owner. After World War II and the nationalization of the building the first Cheb self-service shop was established here in 1952.
