House at the Golden Sun
The original house no longer exists.
The originally Gothic house, the owner of which, Hans Gűntter, is designated as an innkeeper already in 1539, became the only building in the town square with a balcony after a Baroque reconstruction. The local inn, known as The Golden Sun since 1620, became famous namely for accommodating J. W. Goethe during his visits to Cheb. Unfortunately, the house was destroyed by a fire in 1883. The burnt ruins along with the neighbouring property were acquired by the Cheb savings bank for the construction of the present-day bank building.
