School by Horní brána (Upper Gate)
The building continuously serves educational purposes.
The school was constructed in the years 1891 and 1892 by builders C. H. König and Kraus under the supervision of the town architect, J. Thurner. It was subsequently extended by J. Pascher between the years 1899 and 1901. The monumental cubically ended structure covers a quarter of a residential block between 26. dubna, Mánesova, and Evropská Street. The wedge-shaped structure is oriented towards the intersection with Májová Street where the most marked element is the shielded risalit. While the structure divided into blocks conforms to Renaissance, the individual shapes on the first floor are typical of the High Baroque era.
